#20 childrens books

Upandcoming: been asked to illustrate some childrens books for a friend. only ever did one childrens book before and that was on my Foundation (age 18/19)...but i'll give it a go, one is about a mouse who lives in a windmill and wears clogs, and the other about a litle girl and the noises she hears, They're very well written, an i look forward to the challenge.

So thinking about the foundation book, i went and had a peruse through my hard-drive and it must be destiny, LOLZ i lost all of my foundation stuff in the 'great hard-drive crash of 09' but this survived. duh duh duhhhhhh.

So yeh, i thought i'd share it with all of you, because i thought i hated it, but... now i've looked at it for the first time in 3 years, i kind of quite like it, i might print it off at uni while is still have the chance...

oh but yeh the words were attrocious, so here are just the original illustrations:

Also i have joined a Collective called 'Whirlygig' you can follow us on facebook, link is in the sidebar... or if you're lazy like me... its here... WHIRLYGIG COLLECTIVE

lemme know whatch'all think :)

#19 cards

WOW crazy response to the 'Minor queuing' piece. In one day i had 16 +favs on DeviantArt. I've never had anything like it before. :D thank you everyone who helped me with it. I tried printing off post cards, but i feel too much detail was lost (boooo) but i might try and rearrange it, or, choose some of my favorite people to put on them and send out.

heres a look at some of the card designs i've done, the birthday one wasnt for printing and selling, a one off, which is why its at different dimensions...

lemme know what you think. :)

Hallmark have some competitions going on at the moment that i'm thinking of entering. Scarey though. If i can get the dissertation over and done with asap i'll definitely do some designs. :D

#15 books and drawings

i just bought this book, mainly because i searched 'peepshow collective' http://peepshowcollective.blogspot.com/ in amazon
a few members of Peepshow have taught sessions at uni, and they seems to know what they're doing... so i thought id see if they had any books, and this book has them in an excerp... and its kind of everything i like about illustration. the more... designy aspect of it.

Also i got this for christmas. It's pretty awesome. Its all about the more... hand made aspect of graphic design thats been in fashion for a while, anti computer. It has some really nice looking illustrators in it.

There's so many books i want at the moment. :/ The snow is melting. Sad Times.

so this is what i've done so far with my minor:

each length is about one metre by 20cm

the project is about Queues, obviously. I intended on using queues because they are a tangible aspect of Brittish Etiquette that i could go out and draw and watch and study. My intention was to capture aspects of behaviour and body language in my drawings that viewers could associate with.
At the moment i am deciding whether to make it into a book, or present it in a large scale format for wall occupation.  There are more metres to come, Hopefuly i will be able to draw school children, if the snow will allow me before the deadline.
